Ben Shapiro, a writer whose writings I usually enjoy, has suggested the Republican strategy for winning elections this year:
Vote for us -- we're not as bad as the other guy.
Hey, Republicans might be spending money like crazy and avoiding doing the right thing on various issues, but gee, the Democrats are even worse. Oh, but the Democrats have an even better reason: "Vote for us because we're not Bush." Yeah, that really makes me want to go vote. Hey "The Body," are you availiable for an independent presidential run?
That Shapiro punk writes really logically and well, he pisses me off.
The Repubs need to stand up and take a chance on reality, I don't care what they think, bottom line whether they see it or not they've got the better ideas and just need to get a ball.
The immigration deal is a prime example. We want the border security stiffened, screw all the mamby pamby crap that follows. But being politicians that mamby pamby crap has to take center stage. Why start at point Z when you haven't addressed A yet?
Like I said, they need to get a ball.
On immigration -- I'm not sure if they're just feeling lots of pressure from lobbyists, or if they're just so far disconnected from the people of this country that they don't actually know we're really pissed about this one.
They NEED some ideas. But then again, I guess their strategy is that since the opponents don't have any ideas, we don't need any either.
"we don't need any either" is too much like the Dems. I haven't got the patience for that grabage, know what I mean. They're no better if they play that way.
And yet that seems to be the strategy for both the Republicans and the Democrats. Hello? Anyone want to fill in the void here?
The void is that the partisan sides are always going to have their dissagrements. The Republicans strategy makes sense for many, amidst all the criticisms the party as a whole is receiving due to the IRAQ war.
They are going to have their disagreements? The ONLY disagreement I can see now is the IRAQ war; and tax cuts...
